This application is designed to collect a mailing list of all the members of the Department of Mathematics at KTH who have been affiliated with the department in the past five years.
▶ Why
When it's time to prepare a defense gift, it can be tough to find a mailing list that includes not only the current, but also the past members of the department that the defender might have met. This tool solves this problem by providing a curated list.
▶ Under the hood
The automation is divided in three main parts:
- It starts by scrapping the current list of members available on KTH's website.
- Secondly, it uses the Wayback Machine provided by the digital library Internet Archive in order to scrape the list of members available in the previous five years.
- Finally, it checks if it is necessary to save an updated instance at the Wayback Machine. If so:
- Start by visiting the website Wayback Machine.
- Insert the link https://www.kth.se/math/people/members-1.863703.
- Click "Save Page".
